What's the Best Way to Sell a Wedding Dress?

Don't gasp. Don't give me any sentimental lectures. I just want advice on selling an 11 year old wedding dress. If it is even possible to sell an 11 year old wedding dress.

Ebay doesn't seem like a good choice to me. I don't want the hassle of packing and shipping it.

I have thought about a consignment store. I've sold baby clothes via that route before, but just didn't know if there was a better way to sell in order to keep most or all of the profit.

Can anyone help???

Thanks a million!

Taste Buds

Taste buds--aren't they weird?

I was thinking about this just the other day when I was scarfing down some Oreo cookies. Growing up, I didn't like these cream-filled treats. As I pondered this silly subject even more, I realized that there are many foods that I like now that I didn't when I was younger. I think there are even a few things that I don't like now that I used to like at one time. What happened to my taste buds???

Things I like now but didn't then:

Oreo cookies

Pumpkin pie

Mashed potatoes

Dark Chocolate ( I can eat it sparingly now. That change has happened since I have had kids.)

Things I don't like now but did then:

Lima beans (My mom swears that I used to love these--I will take her word for it.)

Well, my mind is going blank at the moment. I think it is filled with thoughts of all of the tasks I need to complete. I better get to them then.

Is there any type of food that you all love to eat now that you absolutely couldn't stand when you were growing up?? Just for fun, I'd like to know!

Works For Me Wednesday: Backwards Edition

Yea, I get to ask for advice this time!

Q: I would like advice on the best way to sell books. I want to clean out our book closet. I have a variety that I would like to sell--home school, baby and pregnancy, Christian Fiction, just to name a few.

I have had some recent success selling some vitamins on ebay but don't really know how well books will sell.

*Would selling on Amazon be a better option?

*Would I have a better chance of selling if I sold several books in one lot?

I know I could donate or freecycle, but I really don't want to. I donate a lot of stuff to charity, but I would like to make some extra money on the books since all are in great condition. Being a stay-at-home, home school mom I just don't have very many opportunities to make extra cash. Sure would be nice to have some, so if you can give me some advice on this I would greatly appreciate it!!!

Works For Me Wednesday: Backwards Day

I am so glad it's backwards day today because I have a few questions that I hope you all can answer for me!!

1. Has anyone ever used Sheer Cover makeup? I have never been an infomercial type of gal until I bought Pro Active. It has worked well for me, so now those Sheer Cover infomercials keep catching my eye. If you have used it, please tell me what you think!

2. How do I do auto posts and posts that "stick" at the top of my page?

3. Where can I buy inexpensive bows on line for my toddler? I don't like the big, fancy kind--just simple styles will do.

4. I home school and was wondering if you all could help me find a SIMPLE art/drawing program. It doesn't even really have to be a program, it could just be one book. It would be even better if it was something the student could do without my help!! I bought Drawing With Children by Mona Brooks, and I personally just don't have the time to go through those lessons.

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions!!

Works For Me Wednesday: Backwards Day

Oh goody, I get to ask a question this time!! I hope someone out there has an answer!

How in the world do I remove hard water stains??

Back in Memphis I had mold problems. Glad I don't have to deal with that anymore, but now I have hard water stains that I don't seem to be able to get rid of.

Mostly, the problem area is in my shower, but it's also in my sinks, toilets, and fridge water tray. It looks like I have a dirty shower even right after I scrub it. Please help, I have tried so many things--scrubbing with baking soda, borax, Ajax with bleach, vinegar, and I have even tried CLR(the stuff advertised on TV). If anyone has had a similar experience, I would greatly appreciate the advice.

On a different note, I can't remember from whose Works for Me Wednesday post I got this idea, but it is working for me, too! It has been a great and inexpensive way to organize my spices, etc. Just wanted to say thanks.

Advice Please!

I have been looking for bows and I am not having any luck!! Help! See the bow in Shiloh's hair? Where can I buy some that are just like that? I did find a site online, but the bows there were priced at $4 per bow. That is too expensive for my budget. The one in her hair came from Chocolate Soup, which is a store in Memphis. Their online store didn't have what I was looking for. I really wanted a brown bow for this Sunday, but I guess it is too late for that.

I went to Michael's today in hopes of finding some ribbon and what I call "alligator" clips, but they didn't carry the clips that I wanted. I was planning to attempt to make my own bow and hot glue it to the clip.

I haven't really ever been a very crafty person, so any advice would be greatly appreciated!! I need new bows to match fall clothes!!

Thanks!

Jump?

If you could jump into a gigantic bowl of anything, what would it be?

I thought about going on ahead and posting my answer, but I thought it would be more fun for you to guess. I have actually pondered quite a few things since the question first popped into my head, but there was one thing in particular that came to my mind first. Anyone know what that might be???

Keep it clean people!

Question #2

Q: If you could visit any imaginary place, where would it be?

A: I would love to go to Green Gables and become Anne Shirley's "bosom friend".
Going to Dragonland seems like lots of fun! "I wish, I wish with all my heart to fly with dragons in a land apart."
Of course, the number 1 place I would love to visit would be Middle Earth!

Question of the Week #1

I am the sort of person that loves to fill out surveys--anything that lets me share my opinion!! So, I thought I would start a little Q and A on my blog. I will love reading everyone's answers! I will start with an easy one...

Q: What is your favorite candy bar?

A: I don't think I ever have just one favorite. I love Almond Joys, Almond Snickers(not the ones with peanuts, although I will eat those, too), and 3 Muskateers!
